Fifteen girls represented the Louisville Police Athletic/Activities League in the 2006 Kentucky Derby Festival Mini-Marathon.   Everyone successfully completed the race with a run/walk pace, which was a big task for the girls with limited training.  Last year Meyzeek organized a running and fitness club with 22 participants.  The club was made up of girls and boys, along with several teachers and parents.  Their goal was to complete the Louisville Triple Crown and the KDF Mini-Marathon.  The 2008 Running Club has grown to 35 kids with several parents and teachers training and running in the races with the club. 

Swag's has partnered with the club, the past two years, to donate shoes and clothing items to provide the members with great equipment to get them started on the right foot.  The runners were addressed by a nutritionist and professional runner to help them get their diet and training program on track.
