Newburg Middle School
PAL Literacy Program

The Louisville Police Athletic/Activities League is currently sponsoring an after school Literacy Program at Newburg Middle School. This year's program is focusing on Reading and Math skills. Ms. Shelby is the Coordinator for the program and the following teachers have so kindly volunteered to spend some extra time with our students:

Reading Literacy - Ms. Volpe
Reading Literacy - Ms. Hagans
Math Literacy - Ms. Jackman
Math Literacy - Ms. Moore

The Newburg PAL Literacy Program meets after school on Monday's and Wednesday's from 2:30 to 4:30. The sessions are divided in half. During the first part of each two-hour session, a portion of the participating students works on math literacy while the others work on reading skills. Then after about 1 hour, everyone takes a short break and enjoys a snack and drink while PAL Officers mix with the students to see how their day has gone. After the completion of the short break period, everyone changes classes and works on a different subject than in the first hour.

This literacy program was made possible by a grant issued to The Louisville Police Athletic/Activities League by PNC Bank.
